The flower gardens are located 112 miles southeast of Freeport, Texas. The Reefs are 12 miles apart. The East Flower Garden's reef if approximately 300 acres and the West reef is about 100 acres. The top of the reef is within 55 feet of the surface and most diving is at a depth of 60 to 85 feet. This exciting trip allows the opportunity for up to five dives at the Flower Gardens. Most of the fish life that is in the Caribbean is here. The difference is that the Gulf of Mexico fish are bigger and more abundant. An close encounter with a manta ray is always a strong possibility. Stetson Bank is 20 miles north of the Flower Gardens. It is covered with brown fire coral and bed, yellow, black, and grey sponges. This creates a unique, rich, colorful background. Stetson is very small; just a few pinnacles, so the concentration of marine like is tremendous. The opportunity to make two dives on Stetson will be available. |
